The Electro Wars is a documentary on the electro scene and how it has emerged and changed over the last couple of years. Justice, LMFAO, DJ A-Trak, Chromeo, DJ Premier and many others are featured in it. Look out for a release soon, until then check out the final trailer here above!

It is unquestionable that the Electro genre has reached a broader American audience in the last two years. I am determined to document the scene and its participants, show the inner workings of the genre and what it will eventually evolve into. The notion to document this genre was conceived in 2008 after reading a blog post with the same title ‘Electro Wars’ featured on the Hipster Runoff. The post was a sarcastic outlook on electro/house artists in the United States and Europe, and their impact on mainstream music here in the United States. I found a substantial concept within the snarky commentary and decided to assemble these “electro soldiers”. It seems that every other day a new remix is popping up on the blogosphere, how does this affect marketing for other independent artists? Do they welcome the remixes or oppose them? Is music overload possible? What will eventually happen when all these budding producers grab a hold of a Pro Tools tutorial and develop their own remixes week in and week out? Will the remix itself become obsolete? Will original tracks have to step up to the forefront rather than recede into the background? Themes of this nature are explored in the film.

So the main reason im posting this, is to first show love to all the DJ’s who performed and let them all know you KILLED IT!! Was a great show all together! and Everyone did very WELL!! Then also to shamelessly promote my work.. First OFF D-JR was rocking his new logo on the screen along with Benjamin Cutswell that i created for them so not only was it a treat to watch these guys rock it, it was more of a treat to see my work on the big screens behind them.. So i included some videos i shot on my iphone. Hope ya like!

Unlike other DJ battles that are based on more technical aspects, this is a creative and unique format that seeks to find the DJ that has best perfected the true art of how to “rock the party.” Eight of Phoenix’s top DJs will fight for the crowd’s favor, each with a 15 minute set that MUST contain at least three different musical genres. A panel of music industry judges will select the winners based on track selection, creativity, mixing skills, stage presence and crowd reaction.

Red Bull Thre3style is an international event series, and will feature 14 events across the United States, culminating in the U.S. National Finals in Denver on October 7. In addition to Phoenix, cities participating include: Los Angeles, Charlotte, Dallas, Nashville, Denver, Birmingham, Orlando, Phoenix, Miami, Houston, Pittsburgh, Las Vegas, St. Louis and Cincinnati. The winner from the U.S. National Finals will advance to the Global Finals in Paris, France, where they will compete against the winners from the following twelve countries: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Ecuador, France, Japan, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Color me pessimistic, but I’ve always thought Judge Judy was about as real as professional wrestling. Of course, that doesn’t mean it’s not entertaining and it certainly wasn’t the other day. A friend on Facebook shot me a link to this video from a recent Judge Judy episode that features Kate Levitt, a musician from the experimental band Teeth Mountain. Since IGIF is in-tune with the Baltimore music scene, I was intrigued from the beginning but did not expect to laugh so much. Apparently this dude, Jonathan Coward (Twitter), got wastey faced and started throwing televisions around Levitt’s apartment.. one of them landing on top of and KILLING her cat. The best part comes after Judge Judy delivers her verdict and they interview the two of them outside the court room (6:45 mark) – some true comedic gems there.

Coming off their release of Chromeo’s fantastic “Night By Night “Green label Sound has another super-jam for us. “Humdrum Town” has also been given a beautiful and infectious video treatment that I highly recommend watching. Brooklyn’s Theophilus London has been on the scene for a bit now but is now making his way to my ears. His last mixtape, This Charming Mixtape, dropped about a year ago and is filled with an eclectic mix of samples all of which are deftly woven with Theo’s electronic production and smooth lyrics (see below). I’ve got no word yet on a full album release but in the meantime I’ll be chillin’ to This Charming Mixtape and throwing on “Humdrum Town” when I want big dose of beauty.
